چکیده

Water shortage and heat are the most devastating abiotic stresses threating global food security. To understand behavior of germplasm under both stresses, thirteen rice genotypes were selected for study to make evaluation water stress condition. The results showed that year mean squares significant highly all agronomical traits except, flag leaf area, number tillers plant-1, panicles 100 grain weight, yield plant-1 harvest index indicated overall wide differences weather during years. Environments found be over used, indicating environments differences. observed among G x E interaction characteristics panicle length. Concerning cultivars performance across three environments, Giza 178, 179, Sakha 107, Hybrid 1, 2 gave best desirable values normal, drought conditions so, these considered play vital role in breeding program enhancement have high potential. positive correlation investigation except with angle, rolling sterility percentage. will further help utilize crop improvement programs.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars tolerant to high temperature at flowering: anther characteristics.

We examined the relationship between morphological characteristics of anthers and fertility in japonica rice cultivars subjected to high temperature (37.5(26 degrees C day/night) at flowering. Percentage fertility was negatively correlated with the number of cell layers that separated the anther locule from the lacuna that formed between the septum and the stomium. The cell layers consisted of ...

High temperature stress and spikelet fertility in rice (Oryza sativa L.).

In future climates, greater heat tolerance at anthesis will be required in rice. The effect of high temperature at anthesis on spikelet fertility was studied on IR64 (lowland indica) and Azucena (upland japonica) at 29.6 degrees C (control), 33.7 degrees C, and 36.2 degrees C tissue temperatures. The objectives of the study were to: (i) determine the effect of temperature on flowering pattern; ...

Physiological and morphological responses of rice (Oryza sativa L.) to varying water stress management strategies

Sustainability of rice production under limited water conditions is threatened by increasing irrigation water scarcity. Therefore, physiological and morphological responses of rice to varying water stress management strategies should be determined. The physiological and morphological responses of a semi dwarf rice (Hashemi cultivar) to water stress intensities (mild and severe, i.e., short-dura...

Response of different rice cultivars (Oryza sativa L.) to water-saving irrigation in greenhouse conditions

Due to increasing water and growing demand for food a more efficient water use system is needed for agriculture. This is more evidence for rice production with a higher water use for economical production. A large cultivar×water regime interaction exists for grain yield in rice. Therefore, information is required to adopt new rice cultivars with high yield potential under water-saving condition...

Elucidating stress proteins in rice (Oryza sativa L.) genotype under elevated temperature: a proteomic approach to understand heat stress response

Rice is one of the widely consumed staple foods among the world's human population. Its production is adversely affected by high temperature and is more pronounced at flowering stage. Elucidating elevated temperature stress-related proteins as well as associated mechanisms is inevitable for improving heat tolerance in rice. In the present study, a proteomic analysis of heat-sensitive rice genot...
